29 Jun 05       Orlando, Opa Locka      Day 14 - Home at last - ORL to OPF

Orlando , Florida to Opa Locka , Florida (ORL to OPF)

This morning we finally got a break on the weather and we took off from Orlando at around 9:30 AM. We filed an IFR flight plan from Orlando to Opa Locka and we headed south as Sonia flew our last leg home. The weather was not great but we made it home safely and without much IFR conditions.

Upon arriving at Opa Locka we were greeted by Ron who had brought Balloons and Flowers for us. He also surprised us with a beautiful cake that Becky got for us and which had our picture on top.

We then drove home and sadly said goodbye to each other. A couple of hours later we called each other and confirmed that we were both suffering from separation anxiety.

Now that we are home and have concluded the 29th Air Race Classic, we'll make this our last report. We are extremely happy to have completed the 2,100 nm journey but we are also sad that it's over. We plan to do it again next year when the Air Race Classic 2006 will takes us from Mesa, Arizona to Menominee, Michigan.

Participating in the air race has been an extraordinary experience for both of us. We are extremely grateful for all the support we have received from our families, friends, peers, and especially our sponsors. We want to give special thanks to our husbands, Edgar and Ron, for their unconditional love and support.

We look forward to the Air Race Classic 2006 and look forward to sharing that new journey with all of you once again.

Thank you.

Sonia & Tamra
