27 Jun 05 Lafayette, Rome , Tallahassee Day 12 - Flight back home - LAF to RMG; RMG to THL
Lafayette , Indiana to Rome , Georgia to Tallahassee , Florida (LAF to RMG to THL)
Today we arrived at the airport at around 8:00 AM for our trip back to Miami . After getting our weather briefing and a few more goodbyes, we departed from Purdue University Airport at 9:00 AM as Tamra flew the route to Rome , Georgia . Edgar flew back with us and Ron went home by commercial flight.
The flight to Rome took longer than anticipated because we had to deviate for weather. We finally landed in Rome at around 1:00 PM and had lunch at the "Prop Stop," a small restaurant located on the field. We then got a weather briefing for the next leg of our trip, Rome to Orlando . However, due to bad weather throughout North and Central Florida we could only get as far as Tallahassee . Sonia flew the leg from Rome to Tallahassee , where we decided to spend the night.

28 Jun 05 Tallahassee , Orlando Day 13 - Flight back home - THL to ORL
Tallahassee , Florida to Orlando , Florida (TLH to ORL)
In the morning, we headed for the Airport for our flight to Orlando Executive. Tamra flew from Tallahassee to Orlando were we had intended to make a stop to visit Amanda and our sponsor "Girls Fly Too" and then continue on to Miami. However, as we were landing in Orlando it started to rain and the weather quickly deteriorated. Upon returning to the Airport after lunch, we saw that the weather along our route and in Miami was bad as well. We waited around the airport for a couple of hours hoping for the weather to clear. We went for an early dinner to celebrate Tamra's birthday and waited some more for the weather. As the early evening approached, the weather had not cleared. We finally decided to stay the night in Orlando and fly home the next morning.
We spent the night at the Bortolin's camp in Orlando (Amanda's new house). Since Amanda has not moved in yet, the only furniture there were the beds and Tamra's neon green folding chair, which she nicely donated to Amanda. This chair has a lot of sentimental value to Tamra. She purchased it before the race and brought it along for the trip "just in case" she needed a place to sit somewhere along the route. We never used it once during the trip until we got to Orlando , where Tamra proudly opened it and announced she had found a use for it and was donating it to Amanda.
